Burned Feet

So Reid managed to climb on the oven door last week and got second degree burns on his feet. Don't worry, he is doing fine now.

Yes, we have heard of oven baby locks, and we have gone through three of them in the past few months. The way our oven is positioned inhibits their effectiveness to some extent, and the combined power (and weight) of the twins easily pulls the oven locks off.

The short version of the story is that we ended up in the Primary Children's ER because urgent care wouldn't treat Reid. We spent most of the night in the hospital, during which time the doctors performed a little procedure to remove the dead skin on one foot.

Reid is healing up well, as seen in the pictures below. What a blessing. That was one of the scarier experiences we have had in a while.

Not forgetting my handsome son Gage (really, really, ridiculously handsome), I posted a clip of him in all his glory (and quirkiness).


Reid has been in bandages for a week straight, and he isn't too happy about it.

Weekly Update

I've posted a few videos from the past week that I hope you'll enjoy. The boys are getting so much bigger and more capable each day. A couple of days a go I was snuggling Reid watching Spongebob Squarepants and out of the blue he gave me a hug and said, "I love you." I admit he slurred it all into one word, but it was clear enough and so sweet.

Back on Schedule

So we are back on schedule with blogging. Sorry for the hiccup in our promotion/marketing of the twins.

Janine has taken on some serious painting projects this week: all of the cupboards in all of the bathrooms and the backsplash in the kitchen. She has been a dedicated machine on all this work despite constant delays due to the twins.

I, on the other hand, have been working on replacing some soffit that came off in the last wind storm we had, cleaning out the rain gutters, trimming all of the trees, and generally trying to get the yard play-ready for the boys. I still have several things to do, but I am getting closer.

This video only shows Gage pulling Reid in the wagon, but usually it was Reid pulling Gage. It just happens that the lighting was better in this video than the others, so I used it.

Day-to-day stuff.


The boys are getting so much bigger and more capable each day. I've already got a couple of great videos for next week (I just took them a few minutes ago) that show some of the things they are learning.

Trip to Idaho

Again, our apologies for the late post. We were in Idaho over the weekend, and sadly, there was a hiccup in the internet service at Nick's mom's house. So, in spite of our good intentions, it is once again mid-week and we're just now posting.

The boys have been super cute this week. I feel like they are getting older everyday. They charmed their way into the hearts of everyone over the weekend. Reid especially took a liking to his cousin Taylor, showing his good taste.

They also finally decided to eat food again. They go through phases...it is not just being picky (which they always are to some extent) it is like they will eat food, or they won't, full-stop. So, we're in the positive, food-eating phase right now, and it makes me really happy.

Also, we are all pretty healthy right now. Lingering coughs, and a bit of running noses, but...cheerful and full of energy.

I have a question for all you blog readers. We do cooking classes at church once a month, and they want me to teach one...but I pretty much cook a variety of food from recipes, so I don't know what to teach. It's not like I have a specialty. So, if you've ever eaten over here or had me cook for you and particularly liked it, or have an idea of what I could cook, let me know. I'm at a loss. I would need about four different things all around a theme...hmmm....

So, because of a little hiccup, we were without power for three days. Poor mom--they were the last three days of her visit. I have to say, camping in your own home isn't that fun. Actually, the whole situation stressed me out. All I know is, I have a renewed appreciation for the lights and the heat.

As a result of laziness, the camera never made it upstairs this week. But, luckily, we didn't post last week so I still have some pictures. Not enough though--I am such a slacker with the camera when people come to visit! Mom was here for over a week, and we loved it, but don't really have photographic documentation. But, let it be said here: we adored having her visit and I've been mildly homesick since she left. We also had a great Easter--luckily it was the day before the blackout--and enjoyed spending time with Joel, Brittany and Maribeth. MB found a beautiful wedding dress while she was here. She's going to look like a princess.

We'll get back on schedule this week. Reid just learned how to say "taco" and it's pretty cute--and Gage got a haircut--so hopefully we'll catch those two things with the camera and have some fun stuff to post next week.
