Alone

Today I took the boys to Sacrament Meeting all by myself. Well, to all of church but they were in nursery for the rest of it. I have to admit to trepidation as I approached it, but the boys have matured quite a bit and it wasn't too bad. They were entertained by the people in front of us and behind us, so no worries. Poor neighboring people didn't get much out of church, but I'm sure they were blessed for helping! Nick has a Man Cold and had to go to bed.

I have a few major things to say today. First is that the boys are growing up too fast and are super cute. They have been really into building a "tower" with some blocks mom sent to me. (see the below picture). Reid is especially good at it. He moves things around based on size and will stack them all inside each other so they are in the right order to build the tower. Gage learned to somersault this week, and we've tried to video it several times but haven't gotten a good video yet and since he seems to believe it is a pre-bedtime activity its always too dark to see. But we will persevere and get a good video soon.

The other day Reid started walking around and clapping and saying "happy." Turns out he wanted to sing "If You're Happy and You Know It". Except they don't sing at all. But they clap and request "happy" all the time.

My second major thing is that I am so grateful for my parents. Really, it has become clear to me lately how wonderful they are and how blessed I am to have two people who are so stalwart and faithful to be my parents. I just know I can always count on them in a moment of crisis. Thanks, mom and dad. BTW, in my head that was way more eloquent, but its late and I'm tired.

One Late Picture

The boys speak slurred English now, but occasionally they throw in one of their twin speak words. Consequently we are starting to understand more of their twin vocabulary. This week, for instance, we learned "gaagow" means "let's trade." And, growling the word means the "negative" of the word.

I've only posted one picture today. Sorry, but one late picture is better then nothing, right?

Finally...What You've All Been Waiting For...Pictures

Reid was so proud of this block tower.

Reid snuggling Tanae during the Christmas visit.

One of their new favorite games...Twin Sandwich

Gage was so happy to help take down the tree, which he did with a pirate sword in hand.

Proof that kids are watching and learning from adults all the time. Gage spends half his time "texting" instead of talking and Reid hides the phone behind his back. I wish they would watch and learn to clean up after themselves or change each others diapers.

Nursery Leaders

We are too lazy to upload videos right now. I'm exhausted, Nick's exhausted, and Joel and Brittney are here for the moment. So this will be a few quick random thoughts, followed by a nice picture post tomorrow. We hope.
My calling (read "unpaid unvolunteer volunteer job") at church was just changed from nursery "worker" to Primary Pianist. Capitalized. I was super excited to get a break from the cutie-pie toddler set, particularly my own, but feeling sort of guilty for the relief. Which made me think about how wonderful, fabulous and tender the current nursery leaders in our ward are. Not only has this couple served in this capacity before, pretty recently even, but they go in there every week with happy smiles, prepared lessons and crafts, and hearts full of love. I'm so grateful for such great examples of heartfelt service. Seriously, hardly anyone wants to attend church and have only a third of the time spent with adults, and the rest relegated to the world of squeaky toys and dirty diapers. Particularly when they've survived raising their own kids. So thank you, nursery leaders everywhere, who serve with little attention and less glamour. I can learn from you.
I've pretty much composed another full dissertation in my head about some other topic which I was going to post, but I can't remember what it was. So on a random note: I have had real sinus trouble lately, and I can't take any decongestants, so I've been seeking alternate remedies and landed on the off brand breath-right strips. They work fine, but they give me an instant version of Grandpa's nose. Interesting. The fun part is my nose stays a bit too big for a good hour after I remove the strip in the morning. I'm getting desperate though, as my head has been trying to explode lately. Bleh.
That's all. I am going to bed now. Pray for a girl.
