A New Year

People who say the transition from two to three kids is the hardest did not start with twins or have a little angel like Dani for a third. They are all great kids, but only one is my little girl. Don't get me wrong. The twins are great, and have been very good of late--inasmuch as three-year-olds are "good."

Right now the boys are playing swords with their toy lightsabers. Gager is Wolverine because he has a toothbrush with that character on it, while Reid is Spiderman. Technically as they were sword fighting, Reid proclaimed himself Jesus. It makes sense, omnipotence would be a great super power, and Jesus did say "I come with a sword." I had to explain to Reid that Jesus was being figurative when He made that statement, and that more reverence is appropriate when speaking of Him.

The twins come up with new funny material all the time. For example, the other day they stripped down to their underwear and started having bum pinching wars. I honestly have no idea what led them to that game. Either Gage was losing or thinking of clever ways to win, because part way into the battle he asked Janine if she would put a diaper on him.

Dani is desperately trying to master mobility so she can acquire out of reach objects. She scootches, rolls, and then screams until she gets said objects.

We Survived the Holidays

We survived the holidays. The boys really loved riding on airplanes, which true to form we forgot to take pictures of. They were really good and Reid made friends with the flight attendants. In spite of the two flights and long day getting home, the boys pretty much immediately asked to go back to Nana's. Example conversations from the last week:

Gage: Can we go to Nana's?

Me: It's too far away.

Gage: Can we go to Granpa's? (he likes those loopholes)

Reid: I want to go to the sunroom!

Me: The sunroom is at Nana's house. We don't have one.

Reid: Where's all our toys? (um, everywhere.)

Me: You have lots of toys.

Reid: I want to go to Nana's.

Gage: Let's go to Nana's.

Me: We can't. Remember we had to fly on airplanes to get there? Airplanes cost lots of money and we don't have any left. (only too true).

Later that day, after I said I was going to call Nana...

Gage: Do we have money now?

Gage has lately been adding "well" before responding to questions. You ask him if he wants to go somewhere for example, and he'll say, "well...alright!" It's pretty funny.
